PLIGA is a New Jersey state regulation that establishes a pool of money to pay claims of insolvent insurance companies. All car insurance companies in New Jersey are required to be a member of PLIGA and contribute funds for its operation.
There are several factors that may cause your premium to change:
Property damage liability insurance covers the cost of damage you may cause to the property of others. Collision insurance covers damage to your own car caused by a crash, minus any deductible.
Collision covers damage to your automobile caused by collision with another object.
Comprehensive covers damage caused by theft, vandalism, glass breakage, or hitting an animal such as a deer.
Buying collision insurance is a personal decision. You may want to consider the value of your car or the amount of loss you can afford.
An endorsement is a change that is made to your policy. An example of an endorsement is adding a new car, changing your address or deleting a driver.
Bodily injury liability coverage pays for injuries you or anyone covered by your policy may cause to others.
Please call our 1-800-437-5556 between the hours of 8:00am and 7:00pm. A service specialist will be happy to assist you.
We offer Scheduled Personal Property (SPP) coverage for items such as jewelry, silverware, collectables, photographic equipment, musical instruments, etc. There is an additional premium associated with SPP, based on the amount of coverage you wish to purchase.
A student who is temporarily away at college but comes back home during the summer is still considered a household resident and is insured by your policy. There is coverage for personal property up to 10% of the Coverage C limit on your policy, no matter if the student lives in a dormitory, fraternity/sorority house, apartment, or rented house while at college. However, if the student leaves property at the school residence for 45 or more consecutive days without actually being there (during summer break for example), there is no coverage for theft of this property.
We cover personal property owned or used by an insured anywhere in the world. Our limit for personal property usually located at an insured’s residence is 10% of the limit for coverage C or $2,000, whichever is greater. Personal property in a newly acquired principal residence is not subject to this limitation for first 30 days after the move.
