Red Bank, NJ - January 7, 2009: High Point Auto Insurance was awarded the New Jersey Vehicle Theft Association's 2008 Ziegler Award which recognizes departments, organizations or companies that have significantly contributed to the fight against vehicle theft. High Point is the first insurance carrier to receive this award. The State of New Jersey reported 24,746 auto thefts in 2006.
"High Point Auto Insurance has truly deserved the Ziegler Award by demonstrating extraordinary initiative and achieved outstanding results in the investigation of auto theft claims," said Brian Dimetrosky, President of NJVTI.
High Point Auto Insurance established a Centralized Theft Unit comprised of one Supervisor and four dedicated Claim representatives, that handles all Automobile and Homeowner theft claims for New Jersey. Through September 2008 this unit has received 390 auto theft claims. Of the 390 Auto theft claims, 101 (21%) were referred to High Point's Special Investigation Unit for investigation. Of the 101 auto theft referrals, four resulted in withdrawals by the insured and four denials based on material misrepresentation made by the policyholder during the claim and investigation which resulted in referrals to the Office of the Insurance Fraud Prosecutor.
"High Point Auto Insurance wants to be more than just an insurance company to our customers. The overwhelming majority of our customers deserve to be protected against the unscrupulous actions of a few. Honest customers should never have to bear the cost of fraudulent claims activity through higher rates," said Rick Adam, Vice President, Claims, High Point Auto Insurance.
